A day at Thistle
From the door to pickup
The day moves in the same order, so children know what comes next, and the longest stretch is for the project.
- 018:30 am
Step 1: Arrival
A teacher greets each child at the door. Children hang up a coat, wash their hands and find the project where they left it.
- 029:00 am
Step 2: Project time
Groups work at the light table, the clay bench or the paint wall. Teachers sit with a group, ask questions and take notes.
- 0310:30 am
Step 3: Snack
Snack is set out in the studio. Children pour, serve a friend and clear their plates.
- 0411:00 am
Step 4: Yard and garden
The yard is part of the day in every season, with the rain gear on the hooks by the door.
- 0512:00 pm
Step 5: Circle and story
Songs, a story and a few minutes to share what the groups found out that morning.
- 0612:30 pm
Step 6: Pickup, or lunch and rest
Morning families pick up at 12:30 pm. School-day children eat lunch from home, then rest or do quiet work until 3:30 pm.
Spend a morning with us
A tour runs while the studios are working, so you see the day as the children do.
