Family policies

Photos of your child

We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.

When to keep your child home

A child with a fever, vomiting or a contagious illness stays home until they are well. If a child becomes ill at school, we call you right away, and a teacher stays with them until you arrive.

Drop-off and pickup

A teacher greets each child at the door in the morning and signs them in. At pickup a child goes only with the people on your list, and we ask for ID at the door until we know you.

Late pickup

If you will be late, call the school so that a teacher can tell your child. If pickup is often late, we talk with you to find a time that works.

Meals, snacks and allergies

We set out snack in the studio, and school-day children bring lunch from home. Tell us about allergies at the tour; we ask privately once you enroll. We ask families not to send nuts.

Closures for weather and holidays

We close for the main holidays and when the weather makes travel unsafe. We tell families by text and email that morning, and share the full list of closures at the start of the school year.

What to wear and bring

Children paint, dig and work with clay, so send clothes that can get messy, a spare set in a labeled bag and shoes for running. We set out aprons in the atelier, and we go outside in every season, so send layers.

Leaving the program

We ask for a month's notice in writing, so that we can offer the place to a family on the waitlist.
